Take line 14. Since the opening of its extension to the airport, this is the route we tell our guests nine times out of ten: an automatic metro, no transfer inside Paris, every 2 to 5 minutes, not affected by traffic. Montparnasse‑Bienvenüe is 20 to 22 minutes from Orly, and it is the most convenient line 14 station to reach our part of the 7th: from there, a single transfer is enough. If you prefer not to carry anything, the flat‑rate taxi to the left bank costs €36.
A detail that avoids many unpleasant surprises: we are on the left bank, i.e., the same side of the Seine as Orly. That makes the journey short, and also explains the lower taxi fare compared with the right bank.
Metro line 14 in practice
Line 14 serves two stations at the airport, and you need to know which one before you board. The Aéroport d'Orly station is in front of terminal 3, with a footpath to terminals 1 and 2. The Cœur d'Orly station serves terminal 4, the former Orly Sud, where Transavia and several low‑cost carriers operate. Your airline ticket shows your terminal; check it before landing rather than on the platform.

Trains run from roughly 5:30 am to midnight, with a train every 2 to 5 minutes during the day and every 5 to 8 minutes in the evening. On Friday and Saturday nights service is extended until 2:15 am. Outside those windows only taxi or ride‑share remains: if your flight lands at 1 am on a Tuesday, book a car rather than hope for a metro.
The ticket: €14, and definitely not the €2.55 one
This is the most common mistake, and it costs you at the gate. The standard €2.55 Metro‑Train‑RER ticket is not valid for airport trips. You need the Ticket Paris Région to the airports for €14, or €7 reduced fare, valid on the entire Île‑de‑France rail network with transfers for two hours. In other words, it also covers your change to reach the 7th.
Three cases where you buy nothing: an all‑zones Navigo pass includes Orly access at no extra cost, a Paris Visite zones 1‑5 does as well, and Navigo Liberté+ simply debits the fare on your monthly bill. The ticket loads onto a Navigo Easy, the IDF Mobilités app, Bonjour RATP, or a compatible NFC watch. It cannot coexist on the same device with a Metro‑Train‑RER ticket, which often surprises regular users.
Taxi, and when it really is worth the price
The official flat rate to the left bank is €36, versus €44 to the right bank, excluding reservation fees. It is a fixed price known in advance, regardless of traffic: with three suitcases, or after a night flight, it still holds up well against three €14 tickets. Take the official taxi queue at the terminal exit and decline the offers made in the hall, which are not flat‑rate.
For a solo traveler with a cabin bag and a punctual appointment, a moto‑taxi is around €70 to €80 to Orly. During rush hour it is the fastest option.
Orlyval, RER B and tram T7: special cases
Orlyval has not disappeared; it has changed role. This automatic shuttle links Antony station on RER B to the two airport zones in a few minutes, with a train every 5 to 7 minutes. Since the line 14 extension, it has lost most of its appeal for those coming from central Paris, but it remains useful if your journey involves RER B, for example from Denfert‑Rochereau or Cité Universitaire.
Tram T7 connects Villejuif to Orly in about 45 minutes, with a frequency of 8 to 15 minutes depending on the hour. It is the slowest solution to our neighborhood; we only recommend it if your trip already starts in the Val‑de‑Marne.
Forget the Orlybus
Many guides and articles still mention it. It stopped running on March 3 2025, after 62 years of service between Denfert‑Rochereau and the airport. If a page suggests this route, it has not been updated, and you can ignore the rest of its schedule.
Arriving at our place
We are at 5 avenue Duquesne in the 7th. Check‑in is from 3 pm, check‑out at 11 am. If your flight arrives early in the morning, write to us before your trip: we do not promise a room before the official time, but we will tell you honestly what is possible that day.
